A Word About Harvest Times

There are three categories of strawberry plants grouped according to when they are harvested. Check out the sweetest strawberry varieties in each group.

June-bearing varieties produce one crop of berries in early summer. The harvest lasts 2-3 weeks so this group is broken down further into early, mid, and late-season to give you a better idea of when to expect ripe berries.

Ever-bearing varieties produce two crops, one in early summer and one in late summer. Strawberry plants in this category produce fewer runners than June-bearing types.

Day-neutral varieties produce flowers, runners, and berries whenever the temperature range is right with no regard to timing. Plants in this category tend to perform better in warm climates compared to other types.
